The Knowledge in Storytelling

On September 24th, Knowledge Equity Lab’s Community Fellow Blessing Digha performed her short story ‘The Knowledge in Storytelling’ for the KEL Virtual Launch Party!

“In my culture, the tortoise is often the protagonist of many stories. All these stories have “morals” behind them. I remember learning that I could pace myself like the tortoise but still get to my goal.

Storytelling is a form of expression, a way of knowing, teaching and learning but often we don’t see it as a base of knowledge. We get carried away by the entertainment.

Next time you hear a story, either factual or fictional, stop and realise that the storyteller is imparting you with their own knowledge.”
